Spring 2008 Investigation Series Course Descriptions Session I OPTION A [ENTERING GRADES 7-10: 9am - 4pm] [April 5] Water, Water, Everywhere and the Storms that Produce ItExperience a virtual storm chase. Learn about weather maps and applications used by meteorologists. Learn the in's and out's of the hydrologic cycle by using an ant farm model of a groundwater system. Simulate various types of contamination with dyes, and learn how our activities may affect the water we drink. Soils and the Environment Soils form the dynamic, vibrant skin of our Earth’s land surface. A hidden and often neglected natural resource, soil is a vital component of ecosystems. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty as we explore the often misunderstood material that is essential to clean water and growing food. Breeding Bears and Punnett Squares Forget pea plants, we’re exploring Mendelian traits and inheritance using Gummy Bears! Join us for a tasty twist on a classic genetics concept.
