Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to attend the Investigation Series Conferences?
The programs are designed for students currently enrolled in grades seven through ten.

What are the Investigation Series Conferences?
Held on the Iowa State University campus, the Investigation Series consists of conferences designed for college-bound students to explore university research and academic experiences, various fields of study, and exciting careers through hands-on activities. Take advantage of this opportunity to interact with university professionals and students and to investigate what the future may have in store for you!

Can I attend with a group from my school?
Great idea! In fact, an ideal way to plan for your future and meet your educational needs is to involve educators from your school.

Not to mention that attending the day with a group of your friends can be a lot of fun. As an added incentive, school groups can attend each conference at a reduced rate (see below for details). To take advantage of this option, simply have your group leader mail all registration forms in one envelope with the appropriate fee. The group leader need not be a school representative.

Are activities planned for parents and educators?
Yes! Parents and educators will explore issues concerning educational opportunities, college planning, and financing education, as well as academic experiences available in academic and career areas within agriculture and engineering.

What is the cost to attend the Investigation Series Conferences?
The fee to attend each conference is $20 for each individual student. School groups can attend for $12 per person. Students on free or reduced lunch can attend at no cost, if the school provides appropriate documentation. Parents and educators attend at no charge.

How do I register for the Investigation Series Conferences?
Complete and detach the registration form or apply online at www.opptag.iastate.edu. Payment is expected with the registration form or mailed in separately if the online registration form is used. Please make checks payable to OPPTAG. The Investigation Series programs are filled on a first-come-first-served basis, so register early! Mail your form or register online by November 3, 2006.
