Explorations is a one-week residential program for students entering grades 9-11. We offer two separate weeks of this fun-filled, challenging program and invite students to join us for one or both weeks! Students in this residential program live in Iowa State University's residence halls closely supervised by a fun-loving and exceptionally talented group of Explorations Counselors. During Explorations, students get a taste of college life while focusing on an academic area not typically available in their traditional school setting. For students that join us for both weeks, we do not provide housing or programing between the weeks.
Social activities allow students the time to relax, have fun, become better acquainted with other academically gifted students, and get to know themselves. Iowa State University offers indoor and outdoor recreational facilities for a wide variety of physical activities that the resident advisers and Admissions Early Outreach staff coordinate for the students after a day of academic challenges.
Each session culminates with an open house held on the final day of the program. Parents, relative, and friends are invited to celebrate the students' accomplishments and view projects created and completed during the week.
