ADVANCED TOYING WITH TECHNOLOGY [ENTERING GRADES 5-7: 9am - 12pm] [June 23 - June 27] So you took the Toying with Technology course previously, and you still are asking why? Well, this course is for you! We'll take another look into those burning questions in a hands-on laboratory, experiencing the fundamentals of engineering: the questions "why?" and "why not?". Students will discover what makes boats float, bridges strong, and robots come to life! This course is appropriate for students who have taken Toying with Technology in previous summers. Instructor: Matt Goodman just competed his fourth year at Iowa State where he is currently a graduate student in Materials Science and Engineering, specializing in polymers. This is Matt's second time teaching this course in the Toying With Technology lab, where he's worked since spring of 2005 under the guidance of Dr. Larry Genalo. Jamie Fath is currently a graduate student at Iowa State University studying curriculum and industrial technology. Jamie graduated from Iowa State in 2006with a degree in elementary education. She currently works as a teaching assistant for the Toying With Technology program where she coordinates K-12engineering outreach partnerships with local schools. Jamie also teaches in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Her interests include engineering education and incorporating meaningful technology into the classroom. This is Jamie’s third year teaching with OPPTAG.
