CY-TAG
CY-TAG (Challenge for Youth - Talented and Gifted) is our flagship three-week summer program for students entering grades 8-11. Students in this residential program live in Iowa State University's residence halls closely supervised by a fun-loving and exceptionally talented group of resident advisors. CY-TAG students complete course work equivalent to one year of high school material or a semester of college level material. The curriculum is fast paced, yet fully attentive to individual needs and learning styles. The student's experience is enriched by small classes and close working relationships with instructors. Social activities allow student time to relax, have fun, become better acquainted with other academically gifted students, and get to know themselves better in the process. Iowa State University offers indoor and outdoor recreational facilities for a wide variety of physical activities that the resident assistants and OPPTAG staff will coordinate for the students after a day of academic challenges. Field experiences will enable students to tie their academic experiences together with their peers, instructors and resident advisors allowing for a broad based understanding of a variety of issues on a local, regional and national level. Each session culminates with an open house. You, your parents, relatives and friends are invited to celebrate your accomplishments and view your projects on the final day of the program. |
